Today Rakhat Aliev is often referred to be member of democratic opposition, its activist, unless its war chief. But that wasn't so forever. Only a few years ago he spoke absolutely antithetical things, which helpless to be called democratic.

Here's a reminder about such article, written and published by Rakhat Aliev in 2006, which is almost forgotten these days. It is «Republicstan or Kazakh Sultanate. What choice do we make?» in Karavan newspaper, which then was under control of Rakhat Aliev.

The main idea of Rakhat's article was that Republic is an alien form of government, which was given to Kazakhstan by Lenin and Kalinin: «That's how the nation got its identity (however, very conventional and very formal). Blood, hunger and tears came alongside with it. with the republic governance Dictature steal to our land together with the republic governance. That was so in many countries from all over the world, before and then, I'm afraid. Dictature always comes dressed in republican closes», wrote Rakhat Aliev.

Rakhat Aliev proposes monarchy as an alternative to republic. Not straightly, but by allusions: «if we look for which political system gained absolute success to build democratic society, the first in the list will be, curiously enough, a monarchy. Of course, we speak now only and exceptionally about Liberal and Constitutional monarchy, no matter how paradoxically it sounds. Democratic monarchy, with advanced and truly independent institutes of governance, parliament, government and judiciary, sermonizing the rule of law. And responsive and free mass-media», — said Aliev in his article.

Further he leads to long list of European monarchical countries, which are now happening as the samples of state structure: Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands and Thailand. He didn't tell this straightly, but the readers understood that allegedly we have to establish monarchy for further well-being of Kazakhstan. And parliament must become the assembly of Kazakh tribes, as the country represented as tribal society in his opinion.

Even then he firstly fall back on this scheme — to use democratic oratory for the purposes of his own political interests, including the goal to establish uncovered autocratic state in his rule. There he spoke: «... and I'm considering that the only and absolute priority for us is the democracy». But practically this oratory about democracy and democratic monarchy only covered his aspiration to absolute power. That's because the only limiting reason to the power of monarch is the counter forces powerful enough to tie their conditions to him. Over and above, all monarchies mentioned by him had long-term traditions, which was smartening by times and keen political struggle. They were the expression and symbols of these political systems with old traditions, and with all changes made their breakage were unnecessary and disadvantageous. Political development of 19-20's centuries led to universal formula «king on throne, but not ruling», with all the powers belong to either parliament or prime-minister. This process is still going now, and even in so conservative country as Great Britain comes the reform of the House of Lords, from which the hereditary lords will be removed.

But Rakhat Aliev has intensions to establish monarchy in the country, in which the sultanate power was abolished 150 years ago, the institutes of monarchy were destructed long ago, and people used to live under republic, so unloved by Rakhat. He couldn't tell that he want to recreate this institute.

In essence it was his impulse to the power, which restricted by no one and nothing. Monarchy, as known, is unchangeable and hereditary power, and in this proposal we see Rakhat Aliev's aspiration to share even small part of it with no one and bind it to him for ages. Even proposed representative body can't do nothing, firstly because of opacity of its organization (Rakhat doesn't answered about how to elect representatives from Kazakh tribes), and secondly because of huge opportunities to stir up intertribal hatred. Only few manipulations and representative body is boiling in blood of internecine battle, and Rakhat, a self- proclaimed sultan, reigning under it.

Knowing temper and style of Rakhat Aliev, it is impossible to believe that such monarchy establishment would be mellowed and democratic. Contrary, it's clear that heroic deeds of Turkmenbashi I and Islam Karimov on Central Asian despotism will be fading away in front of despotism of the new sultan, if he only reaches the power. Even the release of that article is indicative, since it appeared only the day after passing of verdict to killers of Altynbek Sarsenbayev, which murder is reffered to Rakhat Aliev.

The message of Rakhat Aliev was correctly understood by everyone, and that article becomes the first stage of his transformation to political migrant. Too transparent were his intensions, and too familiar was his style of... despotism.

It is interesting that there are enough people in Kazakhstan which bitten Rakhat's hook of democratic oratory. To say, Tolegen Zhukeev, leader of Azat social democratic party, was questioned: «Tolegen Tlekovich, do we need Rakhat Aliev as the member of opposition?». And he gave such answer: «No matter who are you, you have to be oppositionist not by somebody's permission or circumstances, but by your own moral choice and with ethical correspondence to the true interests of the nation».

Zooks, Zukeev is on Rakhat's hook. It's matchlessly to admit, that monarchist Rakhat can follow by moral choice and ethic correspondence for true interests of the people! He always has being guided with lust to power and unmercifully hobnailed true interests of the nation. For huge joy of all the Kazakhs, he failed to reach Power and to establish the reign of Despotism in Kazakhstan.
